Join us for our annual wine tasting and speaker event at Sitti in downtown Raleigh!

Bill Snizek, Distinguished Professor of Sociology, will be presenting “Desktop Graffiti: An Unobtrusive Measure of Campus Climate and Student Attitudes” & “Teaching Large College Classes (n=650+); Some Challenges and Myths”.

The $32 per person cost includes the program, wine tasting, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.  A set of two “alumni badges,” valued at $495 each, to the Greenbrier Classic will be raffled off during the event for $20 per ticket.  Proceeds from the event and raffle benefit the Research Triangle Chapter Scholarship Fund.  Sponsorship opportunities available.  Please contact the chapter for more information.

Tickets to the event must be reserved no later than March 27th.  Check payments may be made out to RTP Chapter – VTAA and mailed to Chelsea MacMeekin at 8300 Clasara Circle, Raleigh, NC 27613 or turned in at any chapter event in March.  Payments may also be made via PayPal below.

Hokie Happy Hour – North Raleigh

Raleigh Rescue Mission Welcome Kit Drive - For the months of February, March, and April we’ll be collecting travel-sized hygiene items at all Hokie Happy Hour events that will be donated to the Raleigh Rescue Mission. We’re creating Welcome Kits containing everything a resident could need to stay healthy and clean each day. Needed items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, antiperspirant, disposable razors, shaving cream, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, Q-tips, chap stick, tissues, sun block, aloe vera gel, insect repellant, combs, and, brushes. All those samples and hotel souvenirs that you haven’t been able to use have just found a worthy home! Target and Walmart also have an excellent collection of travel sized items.

January Social Events

Hokie Happy Hour – Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30 – It’s our first one of the year!  We’ll be heading out to Woody’s in Cary located at 8322 Chapel Hill Road.  Don’t worry Hokies, we’ll be making our way around the Triangle so if you can’t it make it in January, there will hopefully be a HHH near your soon!

Roller Skating Outing at Jellybeans – Wednesday, Jan 26th 7:00-10:00 – This is a great event for everyone who wants to get a little exercise, families with children, or anyone who loves 80’s music!  Meet us at the Jeallybeans located at 1120 Buck Jones Road.  You can pay at the door, but be sure to tell them you are with Virginia Tech because you’ll be able to get in at a discounted price.  It’s going to be a $3.00 admission for Hokies with a $2.00 quad skate rental or $3.00 for roller blades.

Orange Bowl Game Watching Party!!!

Show your support for the Hokies by coming out to the Carolina Ale House and wearing your most festive ORANGE Hokie Gear.  We’re going to have a lot going on including cake and an orange juggling contest at half-time.  Whoever juggles three oranges the longest during half-time wins the prize.  So if you have some fancy skills or have always wanted to be part of the half-time show… this is your chance to shine!  Come out early to get a good seat.
