VT @ Duke Tailgate Q&A

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

The VT @ Duke tailgate is right around the corner. A record 400+ area Hokies will be in attendance, so we’ve received a few frequently asked questions about the event.

Ticket sales ended Saturday, 15 October and numbers have been finalized with Duke.

Q: Where is the tailgate located?
A: The tailgate is located in Blue Devil Alley, just outside the north gate of Wallace Wade Stadium adjacent to Card Gym and Cameron Indoor Stadium. There will be tents and bounce houses for the kids, so you can’t miss it. We’ll be in the tent filled with 400+ Hokies wearing burnt orange and Chicago maroon. See this map for more detail.

Q: What time is the tailgate?
A: The tailgate will start at 10:00am and end at 12:00pm, 30 minutes before the 12:30pm kickoff.

Q: What if it rains?
A: Advantage for Hokies Beamerball! For the tailgate, we will have a large tent covering our entire area to stay dry.

Q: What is the restroom situation?
A: Duke provides porta-potties for all tailgate guests.

Q: How do I get into the tailgate?
A: Whether you purchased your tickets online or in-person at a game watching party, we have your name on our list. We will check your party in at the door and give you each a wristband.

Q: How do I get my game tickets to get into the stadium?
A: You’ll receive your party’s tickets at the door when you check-in to the tailgate. If you don’t arrive by the end of the tailgate at noon, we will leave your tickets at will-call for you to pick up.

Q: What about parking?
A: Game day parking info for the Duke campus can be found on their web site: http://parking.duke.edu/parking/event_parking/football_parking.php. Generally, you can park within a 10-minute walk of the stadium and tailgate area for $10; this map has all the details. Note the one-way “ingress routes” on the map will take effect at 9:30am on game day. Our tailgate starts at 10:00am.
